Vermont OPEN STUDIO TOUR
MAY 26 - 27, 2007

This circular tour was developed to help you locate the 18 local studios participating in the 2006 OPEN STUDIO WEEKEND. By following the directions, you can start in the town of your choice and end up back at the starting point. The Information Centers in Chester and Ludlow will be open during the weekend to assist you on your tour in the Okemo Valley.

VERMONT OPEN STUDIO TOUR - MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND MAY 24-25, 2008

Annual opportunity to get a hands-on view of Vermont artisans at work.

This circular tour was developed to help you locate Okemo Valley studios and galleries participating in the 2008 OPEN STUDIO WEEKEND. The Information Centers in Chester and Ludlow will be open during the weekend to assist you on your tour of the Okemo Valley. From the main road the yellow Open Studio Signs will direct you to studio locations.

MT HOLLY

14. Branch Brook Hollow - Robert Beardmore. Wood carvings including animals and birds. 278 Branch Brook Rd., Mt. Holly 802- 259-2727 On Rte 103 in Mt. Holly, take Healdville Rd. across from Harry's Restaurant. Take the second left after the railroad tracks onto Branch Brook Rd. Go to the second house on the right, 278.

LUDLOW

13. President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site - During May 26-27, demonstrations by several Vermont artists and craftspeople. 802- 672-3773 Plymouth Notch is 6 miles south of Rte 4, on Rte 100A. Signs will lead to Visitor Center parking lot at this historic site.

15. The Silver Spoon at the Depot Street Gallery- Steven Manning. Transforming silverware into functional art. 44 Depot St., Ludlow VT 05149. 802- 228-4753. From Rte 103 in Ludlow Center, at the light, turn south onto Depot St. The Silver Spoon studio is across from the Ludlow Town Hall.

16. Fletcher Farm School for the Arts and Crafts - Society of Vermont Craftsmen. Vermont’s oldest residential craft school hosts demonstrations. 611 Rte 103S, Ludlow VT 05149. 802- 228-8770. From Ludlow go south on Rte 103 for 2 1/2 miles. From I-91, take exit 8 and follow Rte 131 west to Rte 103N for 1 mile.

PROCTORSVILLE

18. Six Loose Ladies... & friends - Fiber art collective. SHEEP-TO-SHAWL Demonstration!

Weaving, spinning, hooking, dyeing, knitting; supples and gifts, yarns & patterns, jewelry. 7 Depot Street Proctorsville 802-226-7373. From Ludlow take 103 to 131. Go east .25 mile to the Proctorsville Green, corner of RT 131 and Depot Street. From I 91 take exit 8 and go west on 131 into Proctorsville.

17. underandover weavers at Quarry Road Studios - Wendy Regier. Handwoven, hand dyed yarns, shawls, rugs. 74 Quarry Road Proctorsville 802-226-7331. From Ludlow take Rte 103 south about 3 mile to Rte 131E. Follow Rte 131E .75 mile and take a left onto Twenty Mile Stream Road, (2nd street on your left). Follow for .75 mile and take a left onto Quarry Road. Green Studio is in field on your right. From I-91 take exit 8 in Weathersfield and follow Rte 131W through Cavendish into Proctorsville. Turn right onto Twenty Mile Stream Road. Follow about .75 mile and take a left onto Quarry Road. Watch for studio signs.

WEATHERSFIELD/READING

19. Rockledge Farm Woodworks - Scott Duffy. Distinctive, hand-crafted furniture and accessories. 58 Ascutney Basin Road, Weathersfield, VT 05062. 800-653-2700. From I-89, take exit 1 and go west on Rte 4 until it meets Rte 106 in Woodstock. Go South on Rte 106 for 15.3 miles. Turn left on Ascutney Basin Rd. From exit 8 on I-91, go west on Rte 13 for 7 miles to the junction of Rtes. 131 and 106. Turn right on Rte 106 and travel for 2.5 miles to Ascutney Basin Rd. Immediately cross a small bridge. Find us at the second drive on left after bridge.

20. Robert O'Brien Watercolors - Robert O'Brien. Watercolor paintings and prints. 2811 Weathersfield Rd, Perkinsville VT 05151. 802-263-9394. Take exit 8 on I-91 and turn west onto Vt Rte 131 for about 2 miles. Turn left on Weathersfield Center Rd, go up the hill for 2.5 miles to the studio which is on the left in a red house.

21. George Ainley Windsor Chairs - George Ainley. Fine Windsor chairs. 666 Cady Hill Rd, Perkinsville VT 05151. 802-263-5217. Traveling south on I-91, take exit 8 and turn west onto Rte 131. Go 2 miles and turn left onto Weathersfield Center Rd. Go 3 miles and turn right onto Perkins Hill Rd. Go 1 mile on Perkins Hill Rd to my studio (Perkins Hill Rd turns into Cady Hill Rd at this point). Traveling north on 1-91, take exit 7, go through town, one block past the stoplight and turn right onto Valley St. Travel five miles (during which Valley St. changes to Weathersfield Center Rd) to Perkins Hill Rd and turn left. Travel one mile to studio.

SPRINGFIELD

22. Gallery at the VAULT. Local and regional fine arts, exceptional artisans. 68 Main St., Springfield VT 05156. 802-885-7111. From I-91 take exit 7 and travel west 3.8 miles on Rte 11 into downtown Springfield. VAULT will be on your right. From Chester, take Rte 11 east into downtown Springfield. VAULT will be on your left.

23. Karen Krieger Metals - Karen Krieger. Jewelry, mirrors and home accessories. 154 Main St., Springfield VT 05156. 802-885-8777. On I-91 take exit 7 and follow Rte 11 toward Springfield. At the second blinking amber light. the road turns sharply right and crosses the Black River. Turn right immediately after you cross the bridge, go up the steep driveway and park next to the brick church or behind the studio, which is 154 Main St., the blue and white house with black shutters.

CHESTER/ANDOVER

INFORMATION BOOTH -- across from the Green. From Springfield, turn west, go past traffic light on Main Street, to the intersection on RT 11, turn left. Continue on RT 11 for 8 miles. Make right turn onto 11/103.

24. Bonnie's Bundles Dolls - Bonnie Watters. Eighty original handmade cloth dolls. 250 North St., Chester VT 05143. 802-875-2114. From the center of Chester, at the intersection of Rte 103 and Rte 11, take Rte 103 north for one mile to the Stone Village (a cluster of ten historic stone structures). Our stone house/studio is the last one on the right, diagonally opposite the First Universalist Church.

25. Tsuga Studios - Tamasin and Nicholas Kekic. Decorative and functional blown glass. 678 Goldthwaite Rd, Chester VT 05143. 802-875-1825. Heading west on Rte 11 out of Chester, we are about 1.5 miles out of town. Take the second right turn past the Army Reserve Building onto Goldthwaite Rd. We are 3/4 mile up Goldthwaite on the right with a silver mailbox 678. Follow the road down across the bridge to the studio.

26. Conrad Delia Windsor Chairmaker - Conrad Delia. Handcrafted Windsor chairs. PO Box 636, 1300 Popple Dungeon Rd, Chester VT 05143. 802-875-4219. On I-91, take exit 6 and go north onto Rte 103. Travel 10 miles to the town of Chester. Take Rte 35 south and go 2 miles to Popple Dungeon Rd. Make a right onto Popple Dungeon Rd and go 1 1/2 miles to entrance at 1300.

27. Lavendier Hill Studio - Martha van der Does. Landscapes, oil paintings and charcoal drawings. 1152 Howard Hill Rd, Andover. In Chester take Rt 11 W and travel about 6.5 miles. Turn left onto Howard Hill Rd at the Red Sleigh Gift Shop. Go 1.2 miles; turn right at driveway. Follow signs up driveway to studio.

28. Robert Sydorowich Artist - Robert Sydorowich. Original Vermont watercolor paintings. 4219 E. Hill Rd, Ludlow VT 05149. 80- 875-3154. Studio location: 4219 E. Hill Rd, Andover. From Ludlow take Rte 100 south for 3 miles and turn left on Town Highway 1, Andover/East Hill Rd. Go 2 miles to the studio. From Chester, at the green, take Rte 11 west 3.6 miles. Go right on Andover Rd for 3 miles, make a right on East Hill Rd, and go 4.2 miles to the studio.
